Before testing
- Install Fabric Loader, Fabric API, and the current NSSVC beta JAR on every participating client.
- Read the in-game privacy notice before enabling voice.
- The default controls are
Nfor settings,Vfor push-to-talk, andMfor mute or deafen. All can be rebound in Minecraft Controls. - Use the Players tab for individual volume and block controls.
Your first 10 minutes
- Open airStand nearby and confirm speech is clear while facing each other.
- DirectionTurn your back while speaking and listen for the source directivity change.
- WallMove behind a solid wall and compare the muffling with an open doorway.
- WaterSpeak above, across, and below the water surface.
- TravelChange lobby or dimension and confirm voice reconnects without help.
What is most useful to test
- Conversation while walking between open areas, walls, doors, and water.
- Lobby, dimension, proxy, and server changes without manually reconnecting.
- Different microphones, headphones, speakers, operating systems, and RNNoise support.
- Long-distance users and unstable Wi-Fi, especially when only one direction sounds choppy.
- Busy lobbies with several nearby simultaneous speakers.
Current limitations
- Voice uses encrypted WSS transport but is not end-to-end encrypted.
- The beta currently uses one dedicated six-worker relay location, so distant regions need more latency testing.
- Windows x64 has the widest RNNoise device coverage; Linux, macOS, and ARM need more testing.
- Essential shared worlds are supported but need wider testing across Essential releases.
- NSSVC is not approved by Hypixel, Mojang, Microsoft, or any Minecraft server.
